Q: What if I don’t speak Turkish?

A: No problem. Our consultants handle all communication with the government on your behalf, Turkish or any other language.

Q: Can my lawyer attend the appointment instead of me?

A: Yes — with a notarized power of attorney (POA), our lawyers can attend on your behalf.

Q: How long does the process take?

A: Typically 2–6 weeks from application to approval, depending on your city and documents.

Q: What if my permit gets rejected?

A: We assist with appeals or reapplication — and ensure it’s right from the start to avoid rejection.

Q: What is the difference between Type J and Type B short-term residence permits in Turkey?

A: The difference between Type J and Type B short-term residence permits in Turkey — especially important for real estate investors:

Type B: Property Ownership-Based Residence Permit This residence permit is granted to foreign nationals who own real estate in Turkey, regardless of the property's value. It’s ideal for those looking to live part-time or full-time in Turkey without necessarily aiming for Turkish citizenship. While it grants legal residence for 1 to 2 years (renewable), it does not automatically qualify you for citizenship unless your property is worth at least $400,000 and all other CBI criteria are met.

Type J: Investment-Based Residence Permit This special category is designed for foreign investors who meet the minimum investment thresholds — such as real estate worth $400,000 or more, capital deposits, or business formation that creates jobs. Type J residence permits are granted for up to 5 years and provide a direct path to Turkish citizenship under the Citizenship by Investment program. It’s ideal for high-net-worth individuals who want residency plus fast-track citizenship.

  • In summary:
    • Type B is for residency via property without a citizenship guarantee
    • Type J is for investment-based residency with direct citizenship eligibility
